Why study Core Mathematics?

This is a qualification designed for students who have achieved a Grade 5 or above at GCSE Mathematics and wish to continue with an element of Mathematics in the Sixth Form.

It helps to develop students’ mathematical skills and thinking and supports courses such as A Level Psychology, Business, Sciences and Geography. Skills are studied and then applied in practical situations with a focus on project work.

How will I be taught/assessed?

Students will be taught for two hours a week for two years. Core Maths is assessed purely by examination with two papers being taken at the end of Year 13.

Prerequisites

Students will be expected to have at least a Grade 5 in Mathematics and a good understanding and enjoyment of Mathematics.

What is it worth?

UCAS Points will be awarded as follows:
